LANARD COPELAND  Lanard Copeland plays for the Melbourne Tigers. His playing number is #21.
At 198 cm Copeland is a Guard and weighs 88 kg. He was born on the 26/7/1965 at Atlanta. Although I could not find much information about Copeland, in my opinion he is the 3rd best in the League! (behind Shane and Matt Nielsen)

ANDREW GAZE  Andrew Gaze is probably the most (although I hate to say it),  famous Australian basketballer .. some strange people still don't know anything about Shane, -- anyway, back to Andrew, he plays for the Melbourne Tigers, and his Dad, Lindsay Gaze is his coach.
Born on the 24/7/65 (3 days before copeland) Andrew "Drewy" Gaze grew to be 201 cm tall, filling the positions of guard and forward quite nicely.
He made his Boomers debut in 1983 and his first NBL game was in 1984. He has played at every Olympic games since 1984, and also played NBA for Washington Bullets in 1994. His ambition is to win ANOTHER NBL championship with the Melbourne Tigers.

MATTHEW NIELSEN Matthew Neilsen is # 44 for the Sydney Kings.  1997 was his Rookie Year and he was selected for the U 23 Men Boomers team, he was also Rookie of the Year. . This team won the Winter World of Basketball. Nielsen played CBA for Penrith before moving on to bigger things. He is a forward at 204 cm and weighs 92kg. His motivation is to "Love what you do or don't do it at all." His birthday is 3/2/1978. He has had offers from a number of NBA teams, but since he is only 20, he will have to wait until the year 2000 to be old enough to play there.  If you have to go Matty, Goodluck, and make sure once you have retired over there you come back to play for Sydney again! Matt has just been named as a reserve in the Australian Boomers!! Congratulations Nelly! =)

STEVE WOODBERRY  Brisbanes  Woodberry is one of the most exciting players you'll see for a long time.
Along with team mate and fellow guard, CJ Bruton, this pair would have to be my favourite duet in basketball (except ofcourse for Shane and anyone else.) I'm not 100% sure on whether Woodberry is an import or not... but he's still a legend, so he can be named here!

C.J. BRUTON CJ 's father, Cal, has recently been named in the NBL's 20th Anniversary team, which means that he was one of the best players the league has seen in its 20 years. It is obvious that CJ is following in his fathers footsteps by being named as a reserve in the Boomers. Congratulations!

ANTHONY STEWART Perth Wildcat, Anthony Stewart helped his team to the semi finals this year, which they unfortunately lost to Adelaide in.

STEVE CARFINO  Mr Magic as his fans know him used to play for the Sydney Kings and he now commentates NBL games and runs camps for kids to learn to play.  I found some information from long ago, and it seems that during 1996 Shane Heal hurt his hamstring and Carfino filled in for him...
(This information was from 1989) When he played for Sydney he was a guard and #11. He is 185 cm tall. Features of his game were his "gravity-defying fallaway jump shot, his ability to drive to the basket and his general speed, skill and ability as a ball-handler." Kings History Pages

DAMIAN KEOGH  If anyone knows whatever happened to him, and what he does now, PLEASE e-mail me!
Keogh used to be Sydneys biggest star... He was guard and # 33. Standing 194 cm tall he was most recognised for being one of the best defensive players in the league. He played in 88 Olympics and 92 Olympics.  Keogh now reports on the Kings and on basketball for the Herald newspaper.

MICHELLE TIMMS Phoenix Mercury point guard used to play for Sydney Flames. She plays in the WNBA and has played since its beginning - the start of this year.  Her nickname is Timmsy and is only 166 cm tall. Her first Opals game was in 1986 and her WNBL debut was 1983. She played in the Olympics in 88 and 96,  and her ambitions are to win an Olympic or World Championship Gold Medal.
